Shipping and Aegean Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis officially opened the "14th Navigator 2014 - The Shipping Decision-Makers Forum" held in Athens on November 20th highlighting the encouraging results recorded by Greek shipping over the last year, as confirmed in the ministry's latest report.
In his speech, Varvitsiotis stressed the importance of the tax framework for shipping in order to preserve its sustainable growth. He also added that "according to data from the Bank of Greece for the first semester of 2014, the revenue from shipping amounted to €7,45 billion, compared to €5,82 billion for the same period last year, which corresponds to a 28% annual increase.
