A Greek student has won gold at the 58th Mathematics Olympics 2017 in Brazil, where Greece did exceptionally well, also picking up many silver and bronze medals.
The gold was won by super student Vasilis Georgiadis, from Thessaloniki, who had also previously competed in the Mathematics Olympics competition, representing Greece.
Vasilis told Greek media that he studied extremely hard at school and put in long hours at home this year, to ensure he would gain first place in Brazil.
The bright high school student solved four of the six subjects he was given, including number theory, algebra, combinatorial and geometry, which were all at a difficult level, however Vasilis managed to top his group and took first place, bringing home a gold medal for Greece.
