Greeks in Germany boost Athens social services with big donation

In a joint initiative with a clinic in the German town of Bremerhaven, German citizens of Greek descent have boosted the City of Athens’s social services with 200,000 euros’ worth of donations, it emerged Thursday.

The donation includes an ambulance, a container filled with food and clothing and medical equipment, two of the citizens, Alexis Vaios and Yiannis Panidis, told Athens Mayor Giorgos Kaminis.

The meeting between the donors and Kaminis was also attended by the director of the AMEOS clinic in Bremerhaven, Joergen Wissler. The same donors have contributed to the City of Athens in the past, providing another ambulance, hospital beds and food among other things.
