The mayor of Palermo Leoluca Orlando unveiled an honorary plaque at the house where Nikiforos Vrettakos lived for four years during the dictatorship (1970-1974), to commemorate the passing of the poet from the capital of Sicily. Attended by known Hellenists Vincenzo Rotolo, Renata Lavanini, Salvatore Nikozia and Maria Karakaouzi from the Institute of Byzantine and Modern Greek Studies «Bruno Lavagnini».
Also in attendance was his son Nikiforos Vrettakos, director Brettakos Costas, who the next day at the Palermo University will talk about the Greek documentary by Athanasia Drakopoulou "Assets" dedicated to the life of the poet.
