We’re excited to announce that the SNFCC is among the RIBA Award for International Excellence 2018 winners!
These prestigious awards announced by the Royal Institute of British Architects, are presented every two years to the most inspirational and significant new buildings created across the globe.
The RIBA was founded in 1834. It is a global professional membership body driving excellence in architecture, aiming at delivering better buildings and places, stronger communities and a sustainable environment.
As stated in the RIBA’s rational for this award to the SNFCC, “this project is very important for Greece and Athens. It is patently successful, having already been embraced by the general public - drawing large numbers of people from the city to a delightful park and two world-class venues.”
Designed by Renzo Piano Building Workshop in collaboration with Greek architectural firm BETAPLAN, the SNFCC constitutes an international complex for sustainability, culture, education and entertainment, housing in its premises the National Library of Greece (NLG), the Greek National Opera and the Stavros Niarchos Park.
The design, construction and equipment of the SNFCC were made possible by the single largest donation of Stavros Niarchos Foundation.
