Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, a Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and The Hellenic Entrepreneurship Award, a programme of the Libra Group, were honored at the 5th Annual Gala of the Hellenic Initiative (THI) that took place in New York on Friday night.
Marianna Vardinoyannis was honored as the founder and president of the “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Foundation”, of the “ELPIDA Friends’ Association of Children with cancer” and of the “Orama Elpidas Association”. She created the first Pediatric Oncology Hospital in Greece, which receives 80% of children with cancer in Greece.
The Hellenic Entrepreneurship Award is funded and administered by the Libra Group, a privately-owned international business group that controls 30 subsidiaries active in 35 countries across six continents. The Libra Group has committed more than €10 million to the award that has helped shape successful startups in Greece.
Part of Libra Group’s responsibility is to actively give something back. Libra does this through a series of managed programmes and initiatives which are broadly linked to the themes of community support and assisting people who have been denied or have limited opportunity.
After the awards ceremony, hosted by Sakis Rouvas, the Greek superstar performed live for an enthusiastic audience at the New York Hilton Midtown.
The Hellenic Initiative is a non-profit organization that raises funds to be invested in entrepreneurial programs in Greece and to support Greek NGOs that provide for underserved communities in Greece.
