One hundred twenty-eight member-states to the 1970 UNESCO Convention adopted in Paris, unanimously, on the initiative of Greece, Declaration, which committed to make every effort to stop the illegal trafficking of antiquities and cultural treasures, which it has risen sharply after the disasters going on in the Middle East.

The Greek initiative was the result of our country's consistent policy at the fight against illegal trafficking of antiquities, and the very active presence in UNESCO. This Declaration underscores the political will of the member parties to the UNESCO Convention to protect the cultural heritage of humanity.
