The first factory in Europe of sweetener production and products of stevia, will be made by the Agricultural Cooperative of Karditsa in Greece, at the end of February. Stevia comes in fully integrated production, from cultivation of Greek fields to the final processing and distribution. The new unit, which is recently completed, is established in the settlement of Kompelo at the Fanari of Mouzaki Municipality in Karditsa. Via the Greek producers, the Greek inquiring work force and modern mechanical equipment, products of Greek Know- how will be made. According to the president of the Agricultural Cooperative of Karditsa, Mr Giorgos Koulosousas, mentioned that there companies which have already expressed their interest, such as Companies of food and drinks in England and in Germany. The main target of the Agricultural Cooperative of Karditsa, is the use of stevia and distribution of its products in the wholesale market, with a certain aim: to double or even triple the growth of the production during the next year.
