The White House has canceled the upcoming celebration at the White House for the annual commemoration of Greece’s Independence Day on March 25.
The decision was taken out of an abundance of caution due to the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.
The event had been scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 18.
The celebration, which was first started by President Ronald Reagan, has become a much-anticipated White House tradition ever since; however, this year’s events forced the White House to cancel the gathering.
Additionally, the United States Congress has decided to close the Capitol Building to the public until April.
The Congressional office buildings and the Congressional Visitors Center, through which all tourists enter the Capitol, have also been closed.
Only lawmakers, staff, journalists and visitors with official business will be permitted to enter these facilities.
All White House tours have been temporarily suspended as well.
