A three-day education, theatre and discussion event named “Greek Days” was organized on Friday in Taranto, Italy.
The event was organised by the ethnic Greek community in Taranto and is a very significant initiative by Italy’s Greek minority, which references the Spartan colony set up around the ancient city-state of Taranta in antiquity.
This is the third consecutive year that “Greek Days” has taken place and its activities are linked to the Greek diaspora throughout Europe.
The president (governor)of the region of Apulia Michele Emiliano stressed that the event in Taranto is “dedicated to embracing the great ideals of democracy, freedom and philosophy in classical and modern Greece”.
