Finally running is the Historical Archive of the Organizing Committee for the Olympic Games ATHENS 2004, covering the period from the claim until the completion of the Games.
The Historical Archive housed at the International Olympic Academy in Ancient Olympia, in room 420 square meters, and includes a rich form and digitized audiovisual material and formal objects of the Olympic Games in Athens.
The task of creating the Historical Archive ATHENS 2004 was fully financed by the International Olympic Committee (IOC), which owns this archival material. The implementation was undertaken by non-profit company "History Archive ATHENS 2004 ', established for the purpose this.
The purpose of the archive
Each organization Olympics topped leaves a legacy as archival material. The maintenance of this file has a dual role:
• be accessible as a historical document for those interested in obtaining a complete picture of the Games,
• be a permanent knowledge base, which can be used as study material for the formulation of strategic organization and operation of the next Olympic Games.
The case of Greece
With the completion of each Olympic Games, the historical records of each of the Games Organizing Committee, namely those relating to the preparation and operation of the Games, are handed over to the International Olympic Committee.
Especially in the case of Greece, due to the particular historic bond of the country with the institution of the Olympic Games, in the case of Athens 2004, the International Olympic Committee accepted the files to remain in our country.
The selected material was organized, digitized, where necessary, and stored in electronic or hard copy form in order to be protected from damage and to be easily retrievable for future use.
Granted by the International Olympic Academy hall “Otto Szymiczek”, 420 square meters, divided and formed into:
• Conference Room οφ 110 persons with full equipment, and
• file space 195 sqm, which consists of an exhibition space that hosts authentic archival objects
• space for study and research of digitized archival material.
What can be seen in the file
The "space exhibits archive" hosts original articles and representative features of the 2004 Games, arranged by themes. This allows the visitor and the student το have direct visual contact with authentic objects and symbols of the Games.

• Olympic Torch with relevant material images, photographs, posters.
• Olympic Medals with relevant images and photos.
• Opening and Closing Ceremonies with photos and material.
• Show file representative Plans Operations Facility, natural designs and complete electronic order using Panel TV.
• Selected Olympic Authentic Products.
• Selected commemorative collector material, functional lapel pins (pins) and other items.
• Maskot pictograms and sport.
• Report / Contact Resources archives, Image & Identity (official posters, messages Games Pictograms, Picture Changes, etc.).
• Presentation Uniform Changes Personnel and Volunteers.
• Panel TV by feeding selected audiovisual material.
