New York
Alexandra Koumba is a Greek interior designer specialised in sourcing antiques & designing eclectic jewelry for museums such as the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York. As of this February, Koumba will be the first Greek artist whose work will be sold through the Museum’s art store. "I am thrilled that art made in Greece will be hosted in one of the world’s most famous Museums" says Koumba. "I am inspired by nature, symbols and archetypes of past cultures and of course the aesthetics of the ancient Greek culture."
Munich
Since 1959, Munich hosts one of the eldest contemporary jewellery exhibitions in the world, attracting thousands of international jewellery makers, dealers and collectors from Germany and abroad. In this year’s edition of Schmuck-Munich Jewellery Week to be held in March (11-17), thirteen Greek designers and artists are invited to transform mythology in jewellery forms, inspired by their own experience in present day Greece. The exhibition is called Myths 2015: A wearable insight in precious Greece.
