The new Greek parliamentary delegation to the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy (IAO) led by MP Mr. Ioannis Amanatidis and Messrs Stavros Arachovitika Andreas Michaelides, Athanassios Bouras and Gerasimos Giakoumatou, accompanied by the Director of IAO Dr. Kostas Mygdalis, paid a courtesy visit to the Ecumenical Patriarchate.
The delegation attended the Liturgy at the Church St. Constantine and Helen Ypsomatheion on May 21, which was led by HAH Ecumenical Patriarch. Bartholomew.
Subsequently, the delegation met with the Ecumenical Patriarch and briefed him on the future activities of the Interparliamentary Assembly of Orthodoxy and for the 22nd General Assembly of the IAO to be held in Vienna from 25 to 29 June on "Historic Orthodox communities in Europe and the world."
The Ecumenical Patriarch made extensive reference to international religious, ecological, social activity undertaken by the Ecumenical Patriarchate and informed the delegation about the future Holy and Great Ecumenical Council, which is to meet in 2016.
