In a report, the agency said that international passenger traffic grew 15.2 % in 2014, compared with 2013, while domestic traffic recovered strongly with a 21.5 % increase over the same period. (A total of 748,366 airplanes used the Greek airspace compared to 693,636 in 2013, a rise of 7.9 %)
The Athens International Airport ranked first among airports in traffic handled. The top 10 Greek airports in 2014 were:
Athens (15.12 million passengers), Thessaloniki (6.17 mln), Heraclio (6.13 mln), Rhodes (4.55 mln), Chania (2.49 mln), Corfu (2.38 mln), Cos (2.21 mln), Zakynthos (1.14 mln), Mykonos (0.78 mln) and Santorini (0.77 mln).
Dimitris Koukis, CAA governor, said commenting on the figures that 2014 was a unique year for the country’s civil aviation industry.
