The Reconstitution of the Committee for claiming German reparations, the return of the occupation loan and rehabilitation of victims will be one of the first acts of the Greek Parliament in the coming days. In the announcement made by the Speaker Ms. Zoe Konstantopoulou immediately after the memorial service which was held in memorial to the 212 executed by German troops on February 24, 1944, in Vigles Malota Megalopolis.
As it was pointed out by Mrs Konstantopoulou in her speech "there is an inalienable duty to our country,to freedom and for democracy. This debt can not be forgoten and can not be deleted especially by those who speak about other debts, which has not even by now been proven to be legitimate and payable.
The Speaker noted that "we honor those who were sacrificed not only by commemorating them, but also with our daily practice and attitude, with the example and the model of our life."
This was followed by a wreath at the monument, a minute's silence and the death roll of 212 dead. The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Minister of Defence Costas Isihos, by MP Mr Constantine Zacharias, by the mayor of Megalopolis Mr Dionysis Papadopoulos, the Regional governor of Peloponnese Mr Tatoulis, a representative of the German Embassy in Athens, representatives of Greek resistance during the war, with whom the Speaker of the Parliament, had a brief conversation
