After the inauguration of the new parliament convenes again today at 11 am in order to elect the new Presidium.
The appointment of the new presidium marks the emergence of the second and youngest woman president.
Mrs Zoi Konstantopoulou is being proposed by SYRIZA and is expected to be elected by a large majority, although the vote is secret, since apart from the ruling party and other government partner, ANEL and PASOK is committed to the enactment of the young MP .
According to Parliament Rules the chairman is elected by secret ballot by an absolute majority of the number of the MPs . If no one obtains an absolute majority, the vote is repeated between the two first
This is the second time in the history of Greek parliamentary history that a woman was voted chairman of the House. The first woman was Anna Psarouda-Benaki in 2004, having a background for two parliamentary terms in total between 2004 and 2009.
However, 38 old Mrs Zoi Konstantopoulou will have its own record as the youngest president ever elected.
This afternoon after the election of the new president will be elected vice-deans and secretaries who will constitute the new Presidium.
