The European Institute of Innovation and Technology’s (EIT) Awards promote innovation and encourage entrepreneurs from all around Europe by putting the most innovative ventures, entrepreneurial graduates, innovation teams and women from the EIT community in the spotlight.
This year’s winning team is led by Greek researcher Ioannis Tarnanas (supported by EIT Health), the Greek President and CSO of Altoida (based in USA’s San Diego and Switzerland’s Lucerne).
The researchers, who are top in their fields create role models that promote change, and the nominees are selected for driving European innovation through ground-breaking projects, services and products that tackle global challenges in the fields of climate, energy, digitalization, food, health, and raw materials.
This year the winning team’s project focused on a Alzheimer’s Disease Prediction Service (ADPS), which is one of the first validated solutions able to predict the risk of Alzheimer’s for people over 50, and the team was not only led by Tarnanas; he also is responsible for creating ADPS.
“My goal is to fight and ultimately cure Alzheimer’s; a disease that remains one of the greatest challenges to society. EIT Health heightened our visibility across Europe through its extensive network and accelerated the acceptance of ADPS on the European market,” Tarnanas said to the official website of EIT.
The EIT Awards are held during INNOVEIT, the EIT’s annual Innovation Forum.
This year’s ceremony was held in Hungary’s Budapest.
The EIT Innovators Award, recognizing the teams with high impact services and products, awarded the winning team with €50,000 ($57,500).
