Gianna Angelopoulos supporting financially a Cambridge University innovation programme

Cambridge University announced the financial support of Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki to a new education and research programme it is about to launch. In order to bring radical changes in industry, the economy and generally the society, its main goal remains the development of technologies.

On her side, the Gianna Angelopoulos Programme for Science, Technology and Innovation, desires to create an internationally unique ecosystem of education, research and entrepreneurial action. More specifically, it is going to support technologies through a coherent research programme, scientists at the beginning of their carees, postgraduate students and research by funding them, while simultaneously it will help the implementation of their ideas.

Not only that, but the programme is aiming to a close cooperation with Greece and its educational institutions and production units -via incorporating a Greek Programme too- in a way that will lead to the bilateral exchange of human potential and ideas.

According to her comment over the programme, she added that “I am delighted to have the opportunity to promote an international project on the solid foundation of the University of Cambridge – and thus to create with my support real prospects to move basic research into practical applications and business results. Everything I know from Greece and internationally has shown me how vital it is to cultivate academic and business cooperation, with social progress as the ultimate goal.”

Gianna Angelopoulos-Daskalaki is a Greek businesswoman. She is best known for being the president of the bidding and organizing committee for the 2004 Summer Olympics in Athens, while she was named one of the 50 most powerful women by Forbes magazine.
