"A dream between magnificent ruins ... Walking in the Athens of travelers, 17th-19th Century" called the new temporary exhibition at the National Archaeological Museum, which launched Monday, the caretaker Prime Minister, Vassiliki Thanou, in the presence of Deputy Minister of Culture Marina Lampraki- Plaka.
The exhibition is a forerunner of the 150 year anniversary of the National Archaeological Museum, which will be celebrated in 2016. It was designed to offer an imaginary walk during the monumental period of Athens, from the 17th to the 19th century, with fellow European travelers.
“Twenty-two pictorial excursion books and fourteen original works of art, oil paintings, watercolors paintings and prints from the collections of the Library of the Hellenic Parliament offer landscapes, pictures, sites and moments of travelers’ Athens, feedback our imagination and create starting points for our personal readings. Thirty-five marble sculptures of the National Archaeological Museum, many of which are presented for the first time, together with the works of travelers are completing their charming narratives for the monumental topography of the city. Museum experience completes by the musical sounds from the homelands of travelers, and also the Greek music, as it was recorded by French composer and music theorist Bourgault-Ducoudray, who was visiting Athens in 1874 to 1875.», as stated by the announcement of the Ministry of Culture. - See more at: http://athens-smart.info/en/one-dream-between-magnificent-ruins/#sthash.Cr5i5bnz.dpuf
