Partnership strengthened
A joint press release by the Greek and German governments was issued in Berlin on November 10, during the 4th round of high-level consultations within the framework of the Greek-German partnership.
Both governments agreed to continue bilateral cooperation on policies related to vocational training, export facilitation for agro-food products, social welfare investments and renewable energies strengthening. The target is the real economy in Greece, through the consolidation of a competitive and export-oriented economy, able to create sustainable employment.
The Youth Institute
A Greek-German Youth Institute is to be established between the two countries, to promote cultural cooperation. The agreement provides for several activities such as internships, school and youth exchanges, and more.
The Institute will be established as an international organization co-funded by the Greek and German governments. In the past, Germany has signed similar agreement with Poland and France. It is an institution which, so far, has helped 3 million young people.
The Greek Secretary General for Youth, Panagiotis Kanellopoulos, said that “our goal is the rapprochement of our societies. Athens embraced this effort from the very beginning”. The agreement was signed in September.
