The General State Archives (GSA), culminating in the events for the celebration of 100 years (1914-2014) since their formation, present at the Eugenides Foundation material from archives and collections collected and preserved during the last century.
Codes, sigils, architectural drawings, photographs, glass photographic plates, film reels, music discs, artwork, objects of worship compose, along with the official documents of the Greek State, those of foreign administrations, and of private collections, compose the breadth and diversity of the archival wealth.
The exhibition "100 years General State Archives, 500 years of history" is structured in nine sections and includes archival material covering five centuries, from the 17th century until the beginning of the 21st. The sections follow the basic chronological periods of Greek history. A separate, tenth section is dedicated to the presentation of the content of the collection of John Vlachogiannis, founder of General State Archives.
The exhibition is accompanied by two photographic compositions. The first captures aspects of the historical periods through selected photos of audiovisual collections of GSA. The second presents evidence and photographs from the one-hundred year course and the persons traveling with them.
