The General Secretariat for Greeks Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in cooperation with the Federation of Hellenic Medical Societies of North America, the Hellenic Medical Society of New York and distinguished scientists of Greek origin from around the world are hosting a global teleconference with the participation of numerous important scientists of Greek origin, titled ‘How will the Covid-19 pandemic end?’ & ‘New COVID-19 Vaccines’.
The teleconference will begin with presentations, followed by questions and remarks by participants.
The keynote speakers invited to participate are Dr Sotirios Tsiodras and Dr Anastasia Kotanidou from Greece, Dr Manolis Kogevinas from Spain, Dr Michael Joannidis from Austria, Dr George Yancopoulos of Regeneron from the USA, Dr Albert Bourla of Pfizer, and Harvard Professor Dr Stephanos Kales.
Participants in the event will be welcomed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, mr. K. Vlasis, while the Minister of Health, Mr. B. Kikilias, has also been invited. Diaspora physicians and scientists from 25 states, Diaspora Medical Associations from many parts of the world, the Regional Governor of Attica, representatives of Medical Schools and of the Pharmaceutical Industry, as well as the International Hippocratic Foundation of Kos have been invited to participate.
This first meeting will serve as a landmark to unite all Greek Diaspora Physicians and Scientists in the battle against COVID-19.
The event will be moderated by the Mr I. Chrysoulakis, the Secretary General for Greeks Abroad of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, while the Scientific Director and Chairman of the Teleconference will be Dr S. Mezitis, Assistant Professor, New York Presbyterian Hospital/Cornell Medicine, Lenox Hill Hospital New York, President of the Federation of Hellenic Medical Societies of North America.
