More specifically, Democrats John Sarbanes in Maryland, Charlie Crist in Florida, Dina Titus in Nevada and Chris Pappas in New Hampshire were all re-elected, as was the until now sole Republican, Florida’s Gus Bilirakis. The “Greek team” was strengthened with the addition of one more Republican, Nicole Malliotakis, who was elected for the first time in her home state of New York.
Greece’s Prime Minister, Kyriakos Mitsotakis is scheduled to hold meetings with all political party leaders on Friday to discuss the voting rights of Greeks abroad.

The organization of the World Olympiad Modern Greek, was the main topic of the meeting of the Special Permanent Committee on Greeks Abroad on 18 July 2016. The meeting was attended by members of the International Coordinating Committee of Pontian Youth and university professors.
The Hellenic Parliament welcomed a delegation from the Community “Nikos Beloyannis " in Hungary, in the corresponding visit retribution incurred by a delegation from Ilida municipality at the Hungarian Parliament, last February, when the Twinning process took place.
On Tuesday, April 12, 2016, the Special Permanent Committee on Greeks Abroad, chaired by Mr. Alexander Triantaphyllides, met on the need of "Investments of Diaspora in Greece”, in view of the new development law.
With success was met the diplomatic mission of the Hellenic Parliament in Moscow, which was held on the occasion of the photo exhibition opening of the Interparliamentary Assembly on Orthodoxy to Mount Athos. The mission was attended by the 1st Vice President of the Hellenic Parliament Anastassios Kourakis, the MPs Stavros Arachovitis, Andreas Michaelidis, Athanassios Bouras, Maximus Charakopoulos and the Diplomatic Advisor of the Hellenic Parliament ambassador Spyros Theocharopoulos. The Government was represented by the Deputy Foreign Minister Ioannis Amanatidis and the Deputy Minister Olga Gerovassili.
A delegation from the Hellenic Parliament met with the Board of PaDEE. During the meeting all matters regarding the relation between Greece and the Greek Diaspora were discussed, with emphasis on the refugee issue.
The networks connecting Greek Diaspora with the Metropolitan Center, with the dominant role of EΤT, which ceased to emit το the Diaspora because of its closure on 11 June 2013 by decision of the then government, as well as the aim of the systematic recording of Greeks abroad were discussed on 02.17.2016 during the fifth meeting of the Special Permanent Parliamentary Committee on Greeks Abroad.
