The Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Mr. Evangelos Meimarakis met today with the Speaker of the Chilean Parliament Mr. Aldo Cornejo, who is paying an official visit to Greece. The Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament presented his Chilean counterpart with the gold medal of the Hellenic Parliament accompanied by papyrus, a sign of honor, friendship and appreciation, but also for philhellenic feelings.

The 1st edition of the International Hellenism Olympics was attended by the MP of Rethymnon (Crete) and Secretary of the Bureau of the Hellenic Parliament Mr. John Kefalogiannis representing the Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Mr. Evangelos Meimarakis.

The Speaker of the Hellenic Parliament Mr. Evangelos Meimarakis spoke at the Conference of Presidents of Parliaments of the Member States of the Council of Europe (CoE), entitled "fundamental constitutional rights and freedoms - participation, trust and public debate as preconditions for democracy. " Mr. Meimarakis, in his speech, highlighted the value of the participatory process of citizens and national parliaments in shaping modern democracy.
