For over 40 years, thousands have gathered in Montreal to celebrate Greek Independence Day with a parade. This year, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, who has attended the parade in the past, opened the march as Grand Marshal of the festivities.

The President of the United States Donald Trump proclaimed March 25, 2017, as Greek Independence Day: A National Day of Celebration of Greek and American Democracy and called upon the people of the US to observe the day with appropriate ceremonies and activities.
