The Hellenic Initiative’s 6th annual gala raises more than 2 million dollars to support entrepreneurship and crisis relief in Greece

The Hellenic Initiative’s (THI) 6th Annual Gala held in New York City on Friday, September 21 raised more than $2 million and more than 750 guests attended. Funds raised will be invested in entrepreneurial programs and economic development opportunities in Greece and also will provide crisis relief for underserved communities in Greece, particularly for children.

The Gala is the largest and most successful Greek Diaspora fundraising event and is attended by Greeks from the U.S., Canada, UK, Europe, and Australia. THI leads the Greek diaspora community internationally in raising awareness and capital for Greece.Since its inception, THI has distributed more than $13 million for economic development and crisis relief in Greece.

2018 GALA HONOREES

*Paul Polman, CEO of Unilever and THI’s Regeneration program partner. THI’s ReGeneration program was launched in 2014 to train, mentor, and place highly qualified millennials in internships at top Greek and multinational companies. More than 520 internships have been created at more than 200 companies. Recognized as the top internship program in Greece, more than 80 percent of participants secure a contract extension or hire.

*Corinne Mentzelopoulos, philanthropist, owner, and CEO of Château Margaux.

Emcee of the evening was Chris Diamantopoulos, actor HBO’s “Silicon Valley,” Amazon’s “The Dangerous Book for Boys,” and Disney’s voice of Mickey Mouse.
