Tourism Minister Elena Kountoura opened the major international travel exhibition for outgoing Chinese tourism, ITB China, which is being held in Shanghai (16-18 / 05) with the participation of exhibitors from 70 countries.
Greece has enhanced its presence this year with the participation of the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO).
The Ambassador of Greece to China, Leonidas Rokanas, attended the event as well as the Consul General of Greece in Shanghai, Vassilis Xiros, the Vice-President of the Greek National Tourism Organization's board, Angeliki Chondromatidou, and the head of the GNTO Office of China, Yiannis Plexousakis.
On the sidelines of the exhibition, Kountoura was interviewed by the Chinese television network CGTN and she referred to the ministry's planning for the dynamic opening to the Chinese market, which saw a double-digit increase of 35 pct last year, and is expected a further increase by 50 pct in 2018.
She also inaugurated the Hellas House Greek Cultural Center which will actively promote Greece's culture, gastronomy, products and tourism in the centre of the Chinese capital.
