The President of the Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou attended at the Concert Hall of Athens the rehearsal of the recording of a part of the "Ninth Symphony" by Ludwig van Beethoven, which was conducted by the chief musician Theodoros Kourentzis.

Megaron the Athens Concert Hall and MusicAeterna, in cooperation with ARTE, Unitel and ZDF, as of 24 February 2022, 22:00, awarded maestro Teodor Currentzis’ birthday, is streaming Ludwig van Beethoven’w 9th Symphony, as performed in the two sold out concerts (19 and 20 February 2022) at the Christos Lambrakis Hall, in front of an ecstatic audience.
This important performance will be streamed free of charge throughout Europe for 90 days after its digital premiere.
The great performance of Beethoven’s “9th” by the MusicAeterna Orchestra and Choir under maestro Teodor Currentzis with soloists Birgitte Christensen (soprano), Sophie Harmsen (mezzo-soprano), Benjamin Bruns (tenor) and Johannes Kammler (bass), was also recorded and will be released by Sony Classical.
Megaron’s cooperation with the three partners was inaugurated last June, with the opportunity of maestro Currentzis and MusicAeterna’s performance of Beethoven’s “7th” at the ancient theatre of Delphi, an amazing feat of musical and technical excellence that was appreciated by more than 2 million viewers throughout Europe.
